I studied at GW Fine Art Studio since my freshmen year dur'ing the pandemic. When I first joined, I found still life artwork boring, but I soon found the intriguing ideas of lighting, form, and perspective exhilarating. GW helped me lay down the foundations of my skills to formulate my ideas onto a page. I am very grateful to the studio because, without them building my foundations, I would not be able to create the work I do now.

Entering Tufts University (studio Art) Fall’2025 塔夫茨大学（艺术工作室）

I began learning to paint at the age of five at GW Art Studio. However, I had to pause for several years due to various reasons. It wasn’t until the end of ninth grade that I resumed painting seriously and gradually rediscovered my passion for art. Throughout this period, 王老师 and 郭老师 patiently guided me in preparing my college art portfolio. In the process, they not only taught me valuable techniques in drawing and oil painting, but also helped me learn how to observe the world and express my own ideas. I am truly grateful for their encouragement and support. Without them, I wouldn’t have made the progress I have today, nor would I have chosen to pursue a major related to art. Being accepted into my dream school would not have been possible without their constant help.

I remember first joining GW Fine Art Studio in 8th grade, following my older sister and feeling a little intimidated as one of the youngest there. I’ve always loved art, but I used to struggle with getting started on pieces or figuring out exactly how to refine them. Through every session, 郭老师 and 王老师 helped me develop an artistic eye and build a strong foundation that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I’ll deeply miss my time at the studio, and the many hours I have spent painting and drawing here. Thank you, 郭老师 and 王老师, for your incredible guidance and for making the studio feel like home.

我记得自己是在八年级时加入GW美术工作室的，那时是跟着姐姐一起去的，作为最年轻的学生之一，我感到有些胆怯。我一直都热爱艺术，但以前常常在创作时不知从何开始，也不知道该如何完善作品。在每一次的课程中，郭老师和王老师都耐心地帮助我培养艺术眼光，打下了扎实的基础，而这份基础将伴随我一生。我会深深怀念在工作室的时光，以及那些花在绘画和素描上的无数小时。谢谢郭老师和王老师给予我如此珍贵的指导，也谢谢你们让这个工作室像家一样温暖。

I’ve been a student here ever since I was in middle school, and it’s been one of the most important creative spaces in my life. This studio helped me grow from someone who just liked to draw into someone who understands technique, discipline, and self-expression through art. Over the years, I’ve developed my skills in painting, sketching, and mixed media, thanks to the supportive teachers and inspiring environment. It’s not just a place where I learned art, it’s where I found my confidence, my style, and a second home.

“I’m sure it’s evident how much technical skill and passion Ms. Wang and Mr. Guo instill into us through the excellent artwork and paragraphs of praise on display - but I want to highlight the kindness, patience, and dedication they have shown me throughout my time with them. From the years where I’ve quit classes altogether, to the days where I toil away in the studio for five hours straight, they have always made it clear that I am welcome, that they believe in my ability, and that they are proud of my journey. I would not be the artist I am today (both in skill, and in drive) without their guidance.”

Patience and attention to detail are skills that are critically important to develop and exercise, particularly for my choice of career. GW Fine Arts Studio’s methodical, observation-oriented approach to teaching art allowed me to both build a more rigorous understanding of the fundamentals of art and hone my attentiveness to detail. Progress may have felt slow at the time, but my time at GW Studio made me more accepting of slow and steady work. I’ll carry the

My time at G.W. Fine Art Studio can be summed up in three words: informative, engaging, and inspiring. I was given informative advice and guidance on how objects were to be depicted and colors to be contrasted. Every piece I had the pleasure to begin and finish was engaging. And, most importantly, the art and artists that I was surrounded with always inspired me. My experiences as a student at the studio resonate with me and will undoubtedly push me further as I embark on the next steps of my future.

Since I started in 7th grade, Mr.Guo and Ms.Wang guided me to develop my art skills. I started with basic shading and worked up from there, and now I'm planning and creating my own paintings. The main two things I took away from my art journey is adaptability and patience. I was able to adapt to different techniques and art styles, learning to approach each piece with an open mind. And I needed to have patience, as great work takes time and the willingness to improve.

I have spent 6 years at GW Fine Arts Studio, learning traditional art techniques such as still life sketching and oil painting. The skills I learned from GW are foundational to all the art I create. I will always remember the advice, patience and guidance I received from Mr. Guo and Ms. Wang in every lesson.

Looking back, I'm truly grateful for the experiences and opportunities that GW Studio has provided me as both an artist and a student. Having done art my whole life, I’ve come to realize there’s always more to learn, and I deeply appreciate all the skills I’ve gained from 郭老师 and 王老师 over the past few years. From building a strong foundation to creating pieces for my art portfolio, they’ve always supported my ideas while pushing my skills to the fullest. I’m incredibly thankful for how far this journey has taken me and I couldn’t have done it without this studio and these amazing teachers.

回首过去，我由衷地感激GW艺术工作室在我作为一名学生和艺术家成长过程中所给予的宝贵经历和机会。从小到大我一直在学习艺术，而我也逐渐明白，艺术永远有学不完的东西。我非常珍惜过去几年里从郭老师和王老师那里学到的所有技能。从打下坚实的基础，到为作品集创作作品，他们始终支持我的想法，同时不断激发我潜力的极限。我无比感激这段旅程带给我的成长，而没有这个工作室和两位杰出的老师，我无法走到今天。

I first joined the studio virtually during 8th grade. Back then, I had many ideas but not much ability. With the studio classes, I realized my potential with technical and consistent practice. I was motivated to solidify my foundations while nurturing my creativity. Each check-in with Mr. Guo and Ms. Wang helped identify a new perspective in how to fix my work and grow as an artist. I want to thank Mr. Guo and Ms. Wang for my time at the studio and if I had more time during high school, I would've spent it here.

我是在八年级时第一次以线上方式加入工作室的。那时我有很多想法，但缺乏实现它们的能力。通过在工作室的学习，我逐渐意识到自己在技术方面的潜力，并通过持续的练习不断进步。这段经历激励我在打好基础的同时，也不断培养创造力。每一次与郭老师和王老师的反馈交流，都帮助我从新的角度看待自己的作品，并在艺术上不断成长。我由衷地感谢郭老师和王老师陪伴我度过的这段时光。如果在高中期间有更多空闲时间，我一定会把它用在这里。

Entering Yale University ( Computer Science) Fall’2025 耶鲁大学（电脑科学专业）

I joined GW Fine Arts Studio back in middle school, mainly because I wanted to get better at drawing. Over time though, it became a space where I could really slow down, focus, and explore my ideas. 郭老师 and 王老师 were always patient and gave super honest helpful feedback that pushed me to improve. Although I’ll be studying computer science in college, I know that the skills I built here, like observation, patience, and creative thinking, will stay useful no matter what I do. I'm really thankful for my time at the studio. And thank you so much 郭老师 and 王老师 for everything you have taught me over the past years!

我从中学时期开始加入GW美术工作室，最初只是因为想提升自己的绘画能力。但随着时间的推移，这里逐渐变成了一个让我能够放慢脚步、专注思考并探索自己想法的空间。郭老师和王老师一直都非常耐心，也总是给予我真诚而有帮助的反馈，促使我不断进步。虽然我大学将主修计算机科学，但我知道在这里所培养的观察力、耐心和创造性思维，不论未来从事什么领域都会受益匪浅。我非常感激在工作室度过的这段时光，也由衷感谢郭老师和王老师这些年来对我的教导！

GW Fine Arts has indubitably played a role in my journey thus far. Guolaoshi and Wanglaoshi have not only helped me constantly improve my creativity and technical skills, but have also taught me to be resilient and hopeful. Although I am not pursuing art, Guolaoshi and Wanglaoshi were with me every step of the way in creating my portfolio. I could not have had a better foundation in art if not for the talent and expertise of my teachers.

I have been learning art in this studio since I was young, and it has become a big part of my growth. Through years of practice, I realized that art is not about comparing myself to others, but about expressing who I am. Even when I felt unsure of my skills, this journey helped me understand the value of patience and dedication. Most importantly, it made me realize how deeply I love design and how certain I am about pursuing a future in fashion.
